Your AI customer service might already be breaking the law. As of August 2, 2026, Article 50 of the EU AI Act is live and enforceable. If you use an AI chatbot on your website, send AI-written emails, post AI-generated social content, or have an AI avatar handling customer questions, you are now required to label it. Visibly. Machine-readably. The European Commission has even released an official icon set for the labels. Customers must be told when they're talking to a bot rather than a person, and deepfakes must be disclosed outright. If you sell to anyone in Europe, or use AI in any customer-facing communication, this is a compliance issue starting now, not something to put on the Q4 planning list. The disclosure norm is also likely to spread. It always does. Start with an audit of your own workflows.

You can't fix what you can't see, and most owners can't see how AI finds them. AI Overviews now show up in 43% of searches. That means nearly half the time someone searches for a business like yours, they're reading an AI-generated summary, not your website. The question is whether that summary is accurate, favorable, or even mentioning you at all. BeeSeen is a one-time $100 tool that audits how your business appears across AI-generated answers on ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. A hundred bucks to find out where you actually stand in AI search is about as low-stakes as diagnostics get. If you've been assuming your SEO work carries over to AI search, it mostly doesn't. Worth a look.

If AI uncertainty has you spinning, Forbes put together something actually useful. Not a pep talk. A framework. Three priorities the Forbes Business Council says every small owner should be building right now: operational resilience (can your business run if one thing breaks?), customer retention over chasing new acquisition, and selective AI adoption for your highest-leverage tasks. The "selective" part matters. Not every process needs an AI layer. The owners who do well in choppy conditions tend to pick one or two places where AI saves real time or money and do those well, rather than experimenting everywhere at once. Full piece here.

Tools Worth a Look

·        Toolport: Cuts the overhead when you're running multiple AI agents with MCP integrations (MCP is the protocol that lets AI tools talk to outside services). Instead of loading every tool's full description into every request, which can burn through 24,000 tokens at a time, Toolport acts as a local gateway and searches tools on demand, dropping that to 4 meta-tools per request. For owners or operators hitting slowdowns and cost creep on AI agent workflows. Price not listed.

·        BeeSeen: Audits how your business appears in AI-generated search results across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. One-time $100.
