ChatGPT just became an employee, not a consultant. OpenAI rolled out a major upgrade to ChatGPT Work on August 25. It can now open its own browser, sign into websites on your behalf, and actually complete tasks. Not describe them. Not draft instructions. Do them. Confirmed use cases include booking government appointments, comparing insurance quotes, canceling tickets, and restocking with suppliers. Your credentials never touch the model. It works through your existing password manager, right on the page, the same way you would. Before anything consequential like finalizing a payment, it stops and asks. Available now for Pro, Plus, and Business users.

Think about the category of work this covers. Logging into a vendor portal to place a reorder. Filling out a government form. Checking insurance renewal options across three carriers. This is the "sign in and fill this out" pile that nobody wants to do and nobody ever gets to. That pile just became genuinely delegable.

Claude now remembers who you are, no matter where you use it. Anthropic quietly shipped something that sounds small and isn't. Claude now carries persistent memory across every surface, Claude.ai, Cowork, mobile, all of it. Your writing style, recurring goals, client preferences, how your business works. Share something once, and Claude holds onto it. No more re-explaining your company at the start of every session.

It's on by default, and you're fully in control. Go to Settings, then Memory, and you can see exactly what Claude has stored, edit it, or delete anything. Good assistants accumulate institutional memory over time. This is Claude starting to do that.

Google just made transcription a serious small-business tool. Gemini 3.5 Transcribe is out via AI Studio and the API. Two versions: one for real-time live transcription with sub-second latency (useful for voice agents and live captioning), and a batch version for audio files up to an hour long. The batch version tags speakers (up to three) and gives you word-level timestamps. A "smart mode" strips filler words and formats spoken lists and dates into readable text automatically.

The detail worth noting for owners with specialized vocabulary: you can supply up to 1,000 custom terms. Product names, internal jargon, client names. That's the difference between a transcript you can actually search and one full of mangled proper nouns. Covers 85-plus languages. Pricing is on the AI Studio pricing page.
