ChatGPT just got a serious research upgrade. Firecrawl and Alexandria launched a one-click plugin that connects ChatGPT and Codex directly to the live web, including SEC EDGAR filings, Yahoo Finance, npm packages, and scientific papers, all from a single index of 113 million-plus sources. Think of it like the difference between asking a very smart friend what they remember about a company versus handing them a library card and sending them to do the actual research. Internal evals show AI agents using Alexandria scored 21% higher on answer quality than those using ChatGPT's built-in web tools. Practical uses for owners: pull competitor pricing on the fly, research a vendor's financials before signing a contract, or let Codex find real bug fixes from current documentation instead of guessing from stale training data. Free to install, with Firecrawl's own pricing kicking in if you use it heavily. Install it here.
If you track your brand or competitors in search, Ahrefs just changed how the numbers work. The July-August update to Ahrefs brings two changes worth understanding before September 30, when the old calculation disappears. First, Site Explorer now estimates traffic for each type of search result individually instead of treating them all the same. That gives you more accurate numbers on how AI-generated results, maps, shopping boxes, and regular links are each affecting your traffic. Second, Brand Radar now uses AI-adjusted volume for its AI visibility reports. Here's what that means in plain terms: instead of just showing you raw Google search volume, it multiplies that volume by each AI platform's estimated usage ratio. So the same search prompt shows a different volume figure on ChatGPT versus Perplexity versus Google, because those platforms aren't equally used. If your brand name overlaps with something else, a new entity-matching feature helps make sure you're being tracked accurately. Full update on the Ahrefs blog.
ElevenLabs voice cloning just got faster and more expressive. The new Eleven v4 model lets you clone a voice from just 10 seconds of audio, add pacing and delivery notes directly inside your script (no more re-recording because the AI read a line flat), and keep that voice consistent across a long project. It covers 90-plus languages. If you're making explainer videos, customer-facing audio content, or any kind of narrated material, this closes a gap that used to require a studio. Creator+ plan members on ElevenCreative get free access up to twice their monthly credits for the next two weeks. Details here.
